The PJ Tatler » Hillary Clinton to Libya skeptics: ‘Whose side are you on?’:

Senator Clinton's words to Gen Petraeus about that willing suspension of belief during the hearings on the Iraq War keep coming to mind as I reread this. Wonder what our new CIA Director Petreaus thinks of this crowd.
"U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is questioning the priorities of lawmakers criticizing the U.S. intervention in Libya.

She’s asking bluntly, “Whose side are you on?”

Setting up a showdown on Libya, House Republicans agreed Wednesday to vote on dueling measures, one to give President Barack Obama limited authority to continue U.S. involvement in the NATO-led operation against Moammar Gadhafi and the other to cut off funds for military hostilities."

How about being on the side of the Constitution of the United States? How about being on the side of a law that was passed nearly 40 years ago- the War Powers Act- and had been obeyed by every President since Nixon- until this one? Surely, if the issue of Libya is important enough for the Secretary of State to imply treasonous impulses to her critics, it's important enough to justify standing up on their hind feet and asking Congress for war powers, as is required by both law and Constitution?

Obama needs to make the case to Congress to ralley the American people behind this. Without, it's going to be tough to do.
