Goldberg: Seduced by the cult of experts

Goldberg: Seduced by the cult of experts

I'm afraid UU's prone to bow at the alter of Experts. When Mark Morrison-Reed quotes those nasty racialist comments by 19th Century Unitarians I suspect they spoke that way under the influcence of Science of their times. Expertism usually a false Goddess especially when the Expert feels empowered to comment on the out-of-scope.

Could you provide a link or URL to where Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed does this or is the source offline?

I heard him quote them at the Central Midwest Conference in Bloomington Illinois this spring. He sucked the air out of the room with them.

Presumably there is a written record of those "nasty racialist comments by 19th Century Unitarians" that Mark quoted? Needless to say I think we should be more concerned with nasty (fill in the blank) comments made by 20th and now 21st Century Unitarian Universalists.

No?

Sadly the UUA and greater U*U religious community seem to be shamefully unconcerned about some very nasty comments made by contemporary U*U religious leaders.
