Marathon Pundit: America has 14,000 abandoned wind turbines

A lot of waste...

California's wind farms -- then comprising about 80% of the world's wind generation capacity -- ceased to generate much more quickly than Kamaoa. In the best wind spots on earth, over 14,000 turbines were simply abandoned. Spinning, post-industrial junk which generates nothing but bird kills. ---Abandoned Rusted Wind Turbines Reflect The Hoax Of Environmental Activists

I was just wandering through, saw your comment about some failed alternative energy wind projects and wondered what your view is. Should we just all take a nap and let Exxon and the Tea Party / Republicans take care of energy and climate issues? Do you care if the ocean goes up a meter or so? We all know that weather is unstable. Many scientists think that climate can also be unstable, and that some really scary events may be approaching us.

I am just an ignorant monkey, but it looks to me like climate change may turn out to be a big deal.

Admitting failure part of my views. Investing in failed and wasteful technologies never a solution to any problem.

For starters...

Andrew Walden, a Hawaiian anti-wind activist plucked the number 14,000 out of the air to represent the total world-wide wind turbines inactive. It has since been uncritically quoted, and even uncritically quoted to apply specifically to the USA and sometimes even just to California.

The truth is that there are perhaps 1,650 or 1% of total wind turbines inactive world-wide at present, representing perhaps 0.5% of total generating capacity.
There are 165,000 wind turbines generating clean, safe, carbon-free energy worldwide.
